(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College men’s golfer Daniel Henely (Cienega HS) has decided to continue at the NCAA Division I level.
Henely committed to play at the University of the Pacific, an NCAA Division I school in Stockton, California. The Tigers compete in the West Coast Conference.
Henely played in three tournaments this season as he struggled with an injury. He tied for first place at the Chandler-Gilbert CC Invitational on Jan. 31 with a two-round total of 134 (68-66). He averaged a score of 72.5 after six rounds of play this season. Despite playing in just three tournaments, he was named to the NJCAA Division I All-West District Team.
Henely became the first Pima men’s golf NJCAA All-American since 2016 (at the time) after he tied for 14th place at the 2022 NJCAA Division I National Tournament. He took second place at the NJCAA Region I, Division I tournament after he fell to teammate Jay Shero in a tie-breaking playoff to decide the individual champion. He helped the Aztecs capture their first of back-to-back Region I, Division I team titles.
He played in every tournament in 2022 and averaged a score of 71.0 in 20 rounds of play.
