Women’s Soccer NJCAA All-Americans and Region I Champions Amparano and Buntin sign four-year letters of intent

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College women’s soccer players Angelina Amparano (Salpointe Catholic HS) and Delaney Buntin (Cienega HS) will move on to play at next level as they signed their respected letters of intent.

Amparano, a sophomore goalkeeper, will play at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), an NCAA Division I school. The Miners play in Conference USA and finished the season with a 4-11-3 overall record.

Amparano helped the Aztecs claim the NJCAA Region I, Division II title and the NJCAA Division II National Tournament Runner-Up trophy in 2021. She played in 46 career games and made 45 starts in the net in her three seasons with Pima. She logged 4,024 minutes with 266 saves, a saves percentage of .866 and a 0.94 goals-against-average.

Amparano was selected first team NJCAA All-American this season. She was the first Pima women’s soccer player to be named first team NJCAA All-American since Devyn Hunley (Sabino HS) in 2015. Hunley also played at UTEP after her Pima career. Amparano was also a United Soccer Coaches All-American, selected to the NJCAA Division II All-Tournament team in 2021 and a two-time All-ACCAC and All-Region player. The Aztecs went 32-13-5 with Amparano on the roster, Buntin, a sophomore forward, committed to play at Chaminade University of Honolulu, an NCAA Division II school in Hawai’i. The Silverswords play in the PacWest Conference and finished 7-6-3 this season.

Buntin was part of the Aztecs’ run in 2021 capturing the NJCAA Region I, Division II crown and finishing with the NJCAA Division II National Runner-Up trophy.

Buntin was named NJCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American this season and scored a team-high 14 goals. She also earned first team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II honors. She was selected to the NJCAA Division II All-Tournament team in 2021 after scoring four goals.

Buntin played in 37 career games; making 22 starts and scoring 25 goals for the Aztecs. Pima went 30-7-3 with Buntin on the roster.
