(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College softball standouts Elise Munoz (Salpointe Catholic HS) and Mallory Zylinski-Wrobel (Sahuarita HS) earned recognition from the ACCAC conference for their play during the regular season.
Munoz, a sophomore outfielder, was selected first team All-ACCAC and named to the All-Region I, Division I team.
As Pima’s leadoff hitter, Munoz batted .457 in 56 games played as she led the Aztecs with 84 hits, 30 extra-base hits, 73 runs scored, 26 doubles and 26 stolen bases. She had 133 put-outs in center field and produced a fielding percentage of .910.
Zylinski-Wrobel, a freshman catcher, was named second team All-ACCAC and was listed on the All-Region I, Division I team.
Zylinski-Wrobel primarily hit in the clean-up spot of the order as she hit .382 and led the Aztecs with 70 RBIs. She tied for the lead with 13 home runs. Zylinski-Wrobel produced 60 hits in 157 at-bats with 50 runs scored, 20 walks, 14 doubles and only 11 strikeouts in 53 games played. She had 137 put-outs and a fielding percentage of .986.
The No. 3 seeded Aztecs will start off the NJCAA Region I, Division I Tournament against No. 2 Central Arizona College on Friday at 9:00 a.m. All games of the double elimination tournament will be played at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher on Friday and Saturday.
