(Berkeley, CA) Sun Devil Lacrosse (3-7, 2-3 Pac-12) defeated Cal (3-8, 1-4 Pac-12) 13-9 on Sunday afternoon for Arizona State’s eighth straight win against the Golden Bears. For the second time this season the Sun Devils produced ten goals in the first half and had a season high of five assists.
Offensively, seven different Sun Devils contributed with attacker Mina Scott and midfielder Bella Ingrao each notching a hat trick. Sophomore goaltender Katie Vahleboasted a .571 save percentage and led the team with three ground balls.
“It was a great team win for us today,” head coach Taryn VanThof said. “We outscored the Bears in three of the four quarters while limiting their chances. Everyone made a difference and it’s exciting to see the team put more pieces together each game we play.”
Up next the Sun Devils return to Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium to host the Bay Area schools in Tempe. The weekend begins with Stanford Friday, April 7 at 4 p.m. on ASU Live Streamand Cal Sunday, April 9 at noon featured on Pac-12 Network.

Mina Scott (vs. Cal), Bella Ingrao (vs. Cal) and Greta Stahl (vs. Stanford) added hat tricks to their careers.
Katie Vahle faced 60 shots with 21 saves, putting her at .467% against Stanford and Cal.

Helen Park had four caused turnovers against the Cardinal and Golden Bears.
The Sun Devils had a 91.4% clear percentage while their opponents had 87.8%.
Cal opened the game with a free position goal, but less than two minutes later Katie Brodsky came charging down the field. She gave a quick pass to Mina Scott which allowed Scott to dodge a defender before finding the top corner to make it 1-1. The Golden Bears followed up with a second. After a back-and-forth ten minutes, Bella Ingrao drove herself in before releasing the ball outside the crease for a tying goal. Berit Brookfield sealed the first quarter out with a eight-meter goal to give the Sun Devils a 3-2 lead.
The second was met by two Golden Bear goals before Ingrao received a pass from the neutral zone which allowed her to drive into the shooting range. Her six meter shot found its way past stick side to tie 4-4. A minute and 15 seconds later Scott finished her eight-meter shot for the fifth of the game. ASU continued with its offensive pressure as Kaylon Buckner created space in the middle for an unforgiving shot to provide the Sun Devils with a two-goal lead. Shortly after, Scott grabbed her hat trick goal off a pass from Anna Thornton. For the third time, Ingrao ran to create space for herself and shot it past the goaltender’s knees to make it 8-4. In a one-two pass with Annie Haley, Brodsky grabbed her first goal of the game. Cal attempted to cut the lead by scoring a single goal, but deja vu sponsored by Brookfield put the Sun Devils up 10-5 headed into the half.
As they did before, Cal grabbed the first goal of the half. Time ticked by without a team scoring until the nine minute mark when Annie Haley found an open lane in the middle that ended in her third goal of the season. The Sun Devils made noise in the fourth quarter as Lydia Oldknow ran around the crease and defender to snatch another for ASU. To close out the game, Brodsky cut her mark inside the eight-meter and found a space down low to score.
