(Tempe, AZ) Sun Devil Wrestling will be well represented at the 2023 US Open this week as 10 Sun Devils are slated to compete over four days in Las Vegas. Alumni Zahid Valencia and Josh Shields, along with current Devils Cohlton Schultz, Jacob Meissner, Cody Foote, Emilio Ysaguirre, Shay Addison and Damion Schunke are all slated to compete. Incoming Sun Devils Nicco Ruiz and Kaleb Larkin will also battle in Vegas. Action runs April 26-30 at the South Point Hotel & Casino.
The 2022 US Open saw Schultz win the 130 kg Greco-Roman weight class over West Cathcart after Cathcart was forced to medically forfeit. Shields also made a deep run but finished as the runner-up at 74 kg FS to Jason Nolf of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club.
