(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College women’s soccer players Savannah Gutierrez (Tucson Magnet HS) and Alexus Mendez (Tucson Magnet HS) have committed to continuing their education and collegiate careers at the next level.
Gutierrez, a sophomore defender, will play for Texas A&M International University, an NCAA Division II school in Loredo, TX. The Dustdevils play in the Lone Star Conference. Gutierrez played in 37 career games for the Aztecs and finished with three assists.
Mendez, a sophomore defender, will play at Benedictine University at Mesa, an NAIA school in Mesa, AZ. The Redhawks play in the California Pacific Conference. Mendez played in 35 career games for the Aztecs; making 26 starts in the backfield. She scored one goal and had four assists.
Gutierrez and Mendez helped the Aztecs reach the NJCAA Division II National Championship Game and also capture the NJCAA Region I, Division II Championship in 2021. They helped the Aztecs secure 22 shutout victories over the past two seasons.
