(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s track & field team competed at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday and Saturday at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
The Aztecs closed it out with 11 team points and tied for 18th place in the final team standings.
Sophomore Orion Barger (Canyon del Oro HS) took second place in the 600-meter race finishing with a time of 1 minutes, 18.10 seconds, earning the Aztecs eight team points.
Sophomore Joel Gardner (Ironwood Ridge HS) claimed two points after finishing the 5,000-meter race in seventh place with a time of 14 minutes, 36.50 seconds. Gardner’s finishing time broke his own indoor Pima school record in the event.
Sophomore Trey Tintinger earned one point as he finished in eighth place in the High Jump with a jump of 1.99 meters (6-feet, 6.25-inches).
The Aztecs will open Outdoor Season on Thursday March 16 as they will compete in the Distance in the Dark held at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix and Mesa Multi’s Meet at Mesa Community College.
