(Glendale, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert men’s volleyball team ended its season with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-10) loss to Arizona Christian at the Firestorm Recreation Center.

The Buccaneers finish the season 2-17, but 12 of the 17 losses were to teams who are currently ranked, were ranked at some point during the season or were an NCAA Division II team.

The Buccaneers could never get the offense going tonight as they hit negatively for the first time all season. The Bucs only managed 23 kills and made 25 attack errors as they struggled to find holes in the Firestorm block as ACU had 14 total blocks for the game.

The Bucs had 11 kills in the first set, but only managed 12 more in the final two frames.

Senior Nico Gutierrez finished with 10 kills in his last match while senior middle blocker Nathan Smith had four kills and hit a team best .375.

While this season may not have turned out the way the team wanted in the record column, individually a few Bucs moved up in the Buccaneer record books.

Gutierrez’s 166 kills this season is second most in a single season in school history as his 426 attacks. Gutierrez also holds the career record for solo blocks with 25. His 192.5 points is the second highest total in a single season and he also had nine matches with 10 or more kills which is tied for second most in a season in school history.

Senior Tyler Yu set the single season school record for digs in a season with 161. Senior Hunter Miller added to his career record assist total with 349 assists in 2023. Miller finishes his career with 959 career assists.

Smith set a career high with 66 kills as did senior Kade Irvine who had 40 kills.

Sophomore Ben Turcinec had 160 kills which is fourth most in a single season in Buc history while his 423 attacks is fourth most in a single season.
