(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (19-23, 19-23 in ACCAC) closed out its road schedule for the regular season on Tuesday with seven home runs and 32 runs scored at Paradise Valley Community College (6-36, 6-36).
Freshman Alejandra Castro finished the day 6 for 8 with three home runs, eight RBIs and five runs scored. Fellow freshman Stephanie Tapia (Cibola HS) closed out her day also going 6 for 8 with three home runs, six RBIs and six runs scored. Freshman Mia Casadei (Tanque Verde HS) followed suit going 6 for 8 with a grand slam and finishing with seven RBIs and five runs scored.
Game 1: Pima CC Aztecs 9, Paradise Valley CC Pumas 0 (5 innings)
Sophomore Faith Orton (Amphitheater HS) threw a one-hit shutout as she finished with four strikeouts and two walks on 80 pitches.
Up 2-0, the Aztecs broke the game open with seven runs in the 5th inning. Freshman Analisa Gomez (University HS) hit a 2-run RBI double driving in Casadei and freshman Kalynn Worthy (Verrado HS). Two batters later, Orton helped her own cause with a 2-run RBI single to score Gomez and Tapia making it 6-0. Castro hit an RBI double bringing in Orton while Casadei capped off the inning with a 2-run RBI single scoring freshman Kelli Samorano (Tucson Magnet HS) and Castro.
Gomez hit an RBI single in the 3rd inning and finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored while Tapia hit a lead-off home run in the 4th and was 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Orton went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run and Casadei finished 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Castro went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run.

Game 2: Pima CC Aztecs 23, Paradise Valley CC Pumas 18
The Aztecs held the advantage over the Pumas to complete the sweep. Pima scored nine run in each the 2nd and 5thinnings.
Castro hit her first home run in the 1st inning driving a shot to left field to put the Aztecs on the board with two runs. She was far from finished as she hit RBI singles in the 2nd and 7th innings, as well as, two more homers; a solo shot and another 2-run blast in the 5th inning.
Tapia completed her three-home run day as she hit a 2-run blast to left field in the 3rd inning to make it 13-1; and led off the 5th with a shot to right field to put Pima up 14-8.
Casadei sealed the nine-run 2nd inning with a grand slam scoring Castro, freshman Shannon Vivoda and Samorano as the Aztecs led 11-0 at that point.
Castro was a perfect 5 for 5 with seven RBIs and four runs scored while Tapia closed it out going 4 for 6 with five RBIs and four runs scored. Casadei finished 4 for 6 with five RBIs and three runs scored.
Sophomore Desiree Martinez (Canyon del Oro HS) went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a run while freshman Elise Muñoz (Salpointe Catholic HS) was 2 for 2 with two runs. Gomez scored three runs in the game.
Orton picked up the win in relief as she pitched four innings giving up 10 runs (10 earned) on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Aztecs close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Glendale Community College at the West Campus Aztec Softball Field. First game starts at noon.
