(Hutchison, KS) The Pima Community College men’s track & field team closed out the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division I National Championships.
The Aztecs came away with a couple of personal-records in their respected final races.
Freshman Emmanuel Corral (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) took 10th place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as he set his seventh personal-best of the season in the event with a time of 9 minutes, 36.89 seconds. He finished first in Heat I.
The 4×400 relay team of freshmen Tristan Spalding (Palo Verde HS), Gamar Garem (Amphitheater HS), Nathan Plant and Orion Barger (Canyon del Oro HS) earned a personal-record as they took 11th place with a time of 3:15.29. It was the third straight improvement for the group in the 4×400 relay.
Other Pima finishes:
Joel Gardner (Ironwood Ridge HS) – 31st place in the 1,500-meter prelims (4:11.92)
The Aztecs close out the season on Saturday in the final day of the NJCAA Division I National Championships. Events begin at 10:00 a.m. (CT).
