National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Class announced

(Phoenix, AZ)   March 21, 2022 Board members of the Valley of the Sun Chapter of the National Football Foundation today announced the names of 23 high school senior football players and three collegiate players selected as the best and brightest from the Valley and the surrounding region of the state of Arizona.

The Class of 2022 honorees, based upon excellence in the classroom, football field, and community are:

Scholar-Athlete of the Year Thomas DeChesaro of Saguaro High School
Duke Frye of Notre Dame Prep, recipient of the Coach Tom Wheatley Memorial Award
Andrew Dalmacio of Poston Butte, Shaw Courage Award winner
Adonis Watt of Brophy Prep, also a Shaw Courage Award winner
Ashton Hill of Deer Valley, honoree of the Frances Kush Dedicated Student Award
Brandon Craddock of Sandra Day O’Connor, recipient of the H.A.T. (Hustle, Attitude, and Toughness)Award, presented by the Erik Widmark Family
Bryce Chen of Arizona Prep, Core Construction awardee
Austin Rush of Yuma Catholic, Dick Tomey Memorial Award winner
Mattias Benally of Seton Catholic, recipient of the Native American Award
Nathaniel Sanchez of Marco de Niza, selected to receive the John Bebbling Family Award
Ryan King of Florence, the Chris Chick Memorial awardee

“As great as the virtual recognition was for the classes of 2020 and ’21, we are so happy to finally be able to gather for this special event now that the pandemic has eased significantly. We’re privileged to recognize a group of terrific young men with an honor that will last a lifetime,” said Roger Blank, chapter president.

Each honoree of the Class of 2022 will receive scholarship assistance for undergraduate education, or post-graduate in the case of the collegians, and be celebrated at the chapter’s 41st annual banquet eventand first liveevent in more than two yearson Saturday, April 23. The gala event will be staged as a luncheon at Wild Horse Pass grand showroom with the young men outfitted in full tuxedos. Brad Cesmat of sports360AZ will emcee the event.

This year’s honorees join more than 1,000 previous NFF scholar-athletes recognized by the chapter. The Valley of the Sun Chapter, founded in 1971, is recognized as one of the most active among 120 nationwide chapter
