(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (18-10, 7-7 in ACCAC) earned its second straight ACCAC conference sweep on Tuesday as it toppled Paradise Valley Community College (16-10, 6-7).
Game 1: Pima CC Aztecs 2, Paradise Valley CC Pumas 1
Freshman Darius Garcia threw a gem as he pitched six and one-third innings giving up one run (one earned) on six hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks.
Freshman Trent Kiraly hit a lead-off home run to right field in the 2nd inning to put the Aztecs on the board.
The Pumas tied the game in the 3rd inning but the Aztecs took the lead for good in the top-half of the 7th. Freshman Andrew Stucky (Canyon del Oro HS) began the inning with a double. With one out, sophomore Fernando Loera drove in pinch-runner freshman Isaiah Pintor (Canyon del Oro HS) on an RBI single.
Loera went 2 for 3 with an RBI while Kiraly finished 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Freshman Liam O’Brien (Salpointe Catholic HS) came in with one out in the 7th and struck out the two batters he faced to end the game.

Game 2: Pima CC Aztecs 7, Paradise Valley CC Pumas 5
The Aztecs rallied from a three-run deficit to score five unanswered runs.
Down 5-2 in the 7th inning, sophomore Romeo Ballesteros (Salpointe Catholic HS) drew a walk and freshman Joey Adge hit a double to put two runners on base. Sophomore Preston Clifford (Sabino HS) and freshman Gage Mestas hit back-to-back ground-outs but each scored a run. Sophomore Emilio Corona was hit by a pitch and the next three batters consisting of sophomore Jose Enriquez, Stucky and Kiraly all drew walks. Kiraly’s walk scored Corona to tie the gameat 5-5.
Mestas hit a ground-out in the 6th inning but it scored Ballesteros to give Pima the lead. Loera hit an RBI triple with one out in the 9th to bring around pinch runner Braedon Mondeau (Cienega HS). Stucky led off the inning with a double.
Enriquez finished the game 1 for 4 with an RBI single in the 1st inning. Corona went 2 for 3 with two runs while Adge also finished 2 for 3 with an RBI double in the 2nd inning. Ballesteros was 1 for 3 with three runs. Kiraly drew three walks and Mestas had two RBIs.
Freshman Jaeden Swanberg (Salpointe Catholic HS) picked up the win in relief going two and two-third innings giving up two hits with six strikeouts. Sophomore Wilson Bannister got the save as he closed out the 9th with two strikeouts.

The Aztecs return to the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field on Saturday when they host Mesa Community College in an ACCAC doubleheader. First pitch is at noon.
