(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (6-10, 6-10 in ACCAC) played an ACCAC doubleheader at No. 11 Central Arizona College on Saturday in Coolidge.
Freshmen Analisa Gomez (University HS) and Elise Muñoz (Salpointe Catholic HS) each finished the day going 3 for 5 with a run scored.
Game 1: (11) Central Arizona College Vaqueras 4, Pima CC Aztecs 2
The Aztecs’ rally was cut short as Pima trailed 4-0 but managed one run in the 4th and one in the 5th inning.
Freshman Stephanie Tapia (Cibola HS) hit an RBI single to drive in Muñoz in the 4th inning to put the Aztecs on the board.
In the 5th inning, freshman Shannon Vivoda hit an RBI single with two outs to plate Gomez.
The Aztecs had bases loaded with two outs but Tapia flied out to center field to end the game. The Aztecs stranded nine runners on base for the game.
Vivoda went 2 for 4 with an RBI while Tapia finished 1 for 4 with an RBI. Gomez and Muñoz each were 2 for 4 with a run scored.
Freshman Lia Dominguez (Cienega HS) took the loss as she pitched two and one-third innings giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits with two strikeouts.

Game 2: (11) Central Arizona College Vaqueras 8, Pima CC Aztecs 0 (5 innings)
The Aztecs managed two hits for the game as the Vaqueras scored three runs in the 1st inning, two in the 3rd and three in the 4th inning.
Gomez and Muñoz each went 1 for 2 at the plate.
Sophomore Faith Orton (Amphitheater HS) took the loss as she pitched three and two-third innings giving up seven runs (seven earned) on 11 hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Aztecs return to the West Campus Aztec Softball Field on Tuesday when they host an ACCAC doubleheader against South Mountain Community College. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
