Joey Augustin (WR, 6’4″, 205, University of Charleston) was a productive four-year starter at the University of Charleston, playing primarily as a WR but also had some reps as a cornerback. During his senior season, he played in 11 games, totaling 47 receptions for 795 yards (951 total yards) and 9 touchdowns.
The 6’4″ receiver has made stops professionally both with the San Francisco 49ers as a camp invite and played for the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Prior to his college career, Augustin was a multi-sport star athlete at Christiansburg High School located in Christiansburg, Virginia.
Saleem Brightwell (LB, 6’0″, 230, University of Pittsburgh) enters his rookie season in the IFL after playing 4 years at the University of Pittsburgh, where he made 25 starts. He amassed over 200 tackles in his time at Pittsburgh, where he primarily played LB. For Pittsburgh, he played in 11 games and compiled 62 tackles, 3.5 TFLs and 1.5 sacks on the year during his senior season.
Saleem was a highly decorated and productive linebacker who totaled nearly 200 tackles his final two seasons at perennial New Jersey powerhouse Paramus Catholic. Brightwell was rated one of New Jersey’s top 20 overall prospects by several recruiting outlets such as ESPN, 24/7, Rivals, and more.
Brandon Ezell (DB, 6’0″, 190, San Jose St.) enters his first season in the IFL, after playing two seasons at San Jose State. He started 12 games for the Spartans, primarily playing cornerback and on special teams. His ability to play both as a corner and offer value as a special teams member offers versatility to the Rattlers roster heading into camp.
Before arriving to San Jose State, Ezell was a 2016 first-team All-Northern Conference honoree for Cerritos College where totaled 37 tackles, seven pass breakups, and three interceptions in two seasons.
