(Prescott, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (0-2, 0-2 in ACCAC) opened the 2022 season on Tuesday at No. 5 ranked Yavapai College (10-1, 2-0) in Prescott.
Game 1: (5) Yavapai College Roughriders 20, Pima CC Aztecs 0 (5 innings)
The Aztecs’ offense was shut out for five innings. Freshmen Elise Muñoz (Salpointe Catholic HS), Stephanie Tapia (Cibola HS), Alejandra Castro, Kelli Samorano (Tucson Magnet HS) and Desiree Martinez (Canyon del Oro HS) all drew walks.
Freshman Lia Dominguez (Cienega HS) took the loss (0-1) as she pitched three innings giving up 14 runs (six earned) on 13 hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Game 2: (5) Yavapai College Roughriders 10, Pima CC Aztecs 2 (6 innings)
The Roughriders took control with runs in the first four innings. The Aztecs got on the board in the top-half of the 6th inning.
Muñoz hit a single with one out and later scored on an error. Tapia hit an RBI single with two outs to plate freshman Kalynn Worthy (Verrado HS).
Tapia went 3 for 3 with an RBI while Muñoz was 1 for 3 with a run scored. Freshmen Shannon Vivoda and Analisa Gomez (University HS) each finished 1 for 3. Freshman Mia Casadei (Tanque Verde HS) was 1 for 2.
Sophomore Faith Orton (Amphitheater HS) took the loss (0-1) as she pitched five and two-third innings giving up 10 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
