(Phoenix, AZ) The Arizona Rattlers have added rookie Malik Williams to their 2022 roster. Williams joins the Rattlers for his IFL rookie season, having professional experience, playing in the 2019 preseason with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons in 2018.
RB Malik Williams (6’2, 230, University of Louisville) played two years at the University of Louisville, compiling 67 carries for 531 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 7.9 yards per carry during his senior season (2017). During the same season, he caught 14 passes for 136 yards as a receiver. In Williams’ junior season, he played in 12 games and rushed 19 times for 147 yards and one touchdown. Williams’ shared a backfield during his time at Louisville with future NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, who won the Heisman Trophy in their first year together (2016).
Before playing at Louisville, Williams spent one season (2015) at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California at receiver and cornerback, catching 18 balls for 217 yards and a touchdown. Later that season, Williams moved to running back, rushing for a team-high 525 yards and five touchdowns. He also played on special teams, with 287 punt return yards and 361 kick return yards. His production at Hancock earned him a First Team All-California and All-Conference selection, averaging a state-leading 198.6 all-purpose yards per game. Prior to Hancock, Williams played safety at Merced College in Merced, California.
A native of Wilson, North Carolina, Williams attended Hunt High School where he caught 16 passes for 420 yards for the Warriors. Malik also played cornerback at Hunt, totaling 42 tackles, six pass breakups, and three interceptions. He scored five total touchdowns while in high school.
