(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (9-2) stepped away from ACCAC conference play on Monday and hosted Arizona Christian University JV.
The No. 7 ranked Aztecs defeated the Firestorm 81-55.
The Aztecs held ACU to 16 points in the first half on 6 for 30 shooting. Pima led 44-16 at the break.
The Aztecs helped seal the win with an 18-4 run to open the fourth quarter and take a 73-40 lead.
Sophomore Nikya Orange (Tanque Verde HS) scored a game-high 19 points after going 7 for 10 from the floor.
Freshman Luisayde Chavez (Rio Rico HS) finished the game with 12 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.
Sophomore Melissa Simmons and freshman Matehya Aberle (Holbrook HS) each posted nine points. Freshman Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS) contributed with eight points, six rebounds and five assists.
Freshman Jaslyn Booker (Buena HS) had seven points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
The Aztecs will play at Mesa Community College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
