(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (7-2, 2-2 in ACCAC) picked up a big win on the road on Wednesday against Glendale Community College (8-1, 3-1) in a match-up between two NJCAA Division II nationally ranked teams.
The No. 11 ranked Aztecs handed No. 17 Glendale their first loss of the season after beating them 91-75.
The Aztecs led 80-71 with 3:27 left but closed out the game on an 11-4 run.
Sophomore Daniel Moody (Walden Grove HS) scored a team-high 27 points. He scored 16 points in the second half.
Freshman Itury Kitt (Eastpointe HS) scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half while freshman Jalen Johnson added 13 points.
Sophomore Chrishon Dixon finished with 11 points and freshman Traivar Jackson scored 10 points.
“It was a good team win. Our strength is our bigs and we finally got the ball where we needed to,” Pima men’s basketball coach Brian Peabody said. “Beating a nationally ranked team will help our confidence moving forward.”
The Aztecs continue their road ways on Saturday when they play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
