(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (14-1, 8-1 in ACCAC) dropped its first match on Saturday to close the regular season against Arizona Western College (17-0, 9-0).
In a defensive battle, the No. 1 ranked Aztecs (Division II) fell to No. 6 ranked Arizona Western College (Division I) 1-0.
The Matadors scored the only goal of the game when Nozomu Kamei scored in the 65thminute.
The Aztecs were held to one shot on goal in the first half as their defense held tough. Sophomore Juan Suarez (Desert View HS) made two saves in the first half as the game was scoreless at halftime.
The Aztecs finished with three shots on goal and Suarez had three saves for the game.
The Aztecs will be the No. 1 seed for the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament. They will host No. 4 seed Glendale Community College on Wednesday at the West Campus Aztec Soccer Field. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
