Aztecs men’s soccer stays unbeaten after scoring 11 goals vs. GateWay CC

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (7-0, 1-0 in ACCAC) opened ACCAC conference play on Friday against GateWay Community College (0-5, 0-1).

The No. 2 ranked Aztecs remained undefeated after dropping the Geckos 11-0 at the NOS Santos Complex in Mesa.

Sophomore Brian Vu (Rincon HS) finished with a hat trick as he scored goals in the 10^th, 20^th and 89^th minutes.

Freshman Jesus Virgen (Sunnyside HS) scored two goals in the 76^th and 86^th minutes.

Sophomore Taein Ka and freshman Fernando Garate (Salpointe Catholic HS) each netted a goal and had an assist. Ka scored his goal in the 18^th minute and assisted in Vu’s second goal to make it 3-0. Garate had the assist in sophomore Francisco Manzo’s (Salpointe Catholic HS) goal in the 72^nd minute to make it 7-0 and scored a goal of his own in the 79^th minute.

The Aztecs also got goals from sophomore Ulysses Torres (Sunnyside HS), sophomore Manuel Quiroz (Sunnyside HS) and freshman Cristian Gutierrez (Cholla HS).

The Aztecs finished with 16 shots on goal. Sophomore Juan Suarez (Desert View HS) had five saves.

The Aztecs are off until Saturday, September 25 when they play at Phoenix College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
