(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (7-2, 2-1 in ACCAC) got back to its winning ways on Tuesday as it earned a shutout victory against Glendale Community College (0-8, 0-3) at the West Campus Aztec Field.
The No. 9 ranked Aztecs defeated the Gauchos 7-0 to improve to 4-0 on the Aztec Field.
Freshman Mari Acosta (Sahuarita HS) netted two goals. She put the Aztecs on the board in the 26th minute and made the score 5-0 with her second goal in the 60th minute.
The Aztecs had six different goal scorers as sophomores Briannah Gerhart (Tanque Verde HS), Saydee Guzman (Cienega HS), Kortney Cahill (Cienega HS) as well as freshmen Marilyn McFeaters (Palo Verde HS), and Delaney Buntin (Cienega HS) all scored for Pima.
The Aztecs also had six different players who dished out assists in sophomores Dulcenella Yebra (Tucson Magnet HS), Alyssa Kopach (Ironwood Ridge HS), Kaitlyn Bassett (Sabino HS), Nayeli Vidal (Sahuaro HS), Seti Valencia (Sunnyside HS) and freshman Caitlyn Maher (Catalina Foothills HS).
The Aztecs finished with 27 shots on goal. Sophomore Angelina Amparano (Salpointe Catholic HS) played the first half and had no saves. Freshman Alexus Mendez (Tucson Magnet HS) was in the net for the second half and had no saves.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Soccer Field on Saturday when they host Mesa Community College at 4:30 p.m.
