(Phoenix, AZ) The Indoor Football League announced on Tuesday afternoon that Arizona Rattlers quarterback Drew Powell has been awarded IFL ‘Week 15 Offensive Player of the Week’ honors for his efforts in Arizona’s 60-48 win over the Duke City Gladiators.
In Arizona’s fifth straight home victory Saturday, Powell led all players with 7 total touchdowns. Powell finished the game with 11 carries for 95 yards and 5 TDs on the ground and went 12 of 16 for 117 yards and 2 TDs through the air.
The ‘Week 15 Offensive Player of the Week’ award is the seventh of Powell’s IFL career between Nebraska, Iowa and Arizona. On the season, Powell has amassed 756 yards and 29 TDs rushing. Those numbers are good enough for the league’s best in both categories.
The selection is Powell’s second ‘Offensive Player of the Week’ honor this season and the Rattlers fourth total POW selection (Powell – Week 7, Wyatt Jr – Week 8, Lacayo – Week 14).
This POW nod marks Powell only one shy of matching his career high (3) in selections, and that number was set with the Iowa Barnstormers en route to being named the 2018 IFL MVP.
Currently, Powell is only 190 yards away from breaking his own IFL single season QB rushing record. A record he set during the same MVP season with Iowa.
The Arizona Rattlers continue their pursuit of home field advantage in the IFL Playoffs this Sunday, August 8 at 3:05 p.m. versus the Tucson Sugar Skulls (4-7).
