(Marana, AZ) Benson High School Bobcat Emily Darwin was named the 520 Sports Talk Softball Player of the Year for 2021.
Emily also plays Travel Ball for Desert Thunder and is a multi sport athlete for the Bobcats as well.
Darwin led the Benson to an undefeated 17-0 record in the regular season.
She scalded the ball with a .659 batting average and 11 home runs. Darwin had a .719 on base percentage while leading the team with a 1.522 slugging percentage.
In the field, Darwin only committed 2 errors and ended with a .913 fielding percentage.
Showing her versatility, Darwin was undefeated in the circle (6-0) with a 1.35 ERA.
Coach Brittney Batten and her staff have this juggernaut program going for another 2A State Title.
Benson won the 2A State Championship in 2017 under Yogi Wilson and followed up in 2018 with their second consecutive title.
Darwin becomes the second Bobcat to win the 520 Sports Talk Player of the Year Award after Katie Sherman-Francis in 2019.
