(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (4-0, 4-0 in ACCAC) picked up a big win on the road on Thursday against Arizona Western College (4-2, 3-1) handing them their first ACCAC conference defeat.
The No. 1 ranked Aztecs (Division II) beat the No. 8 ranked Matadors (Division II) 2-1 after scoring two first half goals and nearly earning a shutout.
Sophomore Zak Mohamed (Rincon HS) put the Aztecs on the board with his goal in the 25th minute that was assisted by freshman Lorenzo Nicolia (Sunrise Mountain HS).
The Aztecs took a 2-0 advantage when freshman Brian Vu (Rincon HS) netted his goal in the 41st minute. Sophomore Seungeon Kim had the assist.
The Matadors scored in the 88th minute.
Sophomore Juan Suarez (Desert View HS) finished the game with eight saves.
The Aztecs return to the West Campus Aztec Soccer Field part of the Chapman Auto Sports Complex on Saturday to face off with Glendale Community College. The teams are on the pitch at 6:00 p.m.
