(Tucson, AZ) The No. 16 ranked Pima Community College men’s tennis team (3-2) played two matches in the Phoenix area on Tuesday and gained two shutout victories to close the regular season.
(16) Pima CC Aztecs 7, Paradise Valley CC 0
In doubles competition, the duo of sophomore Corey Pabst and freshman Mason Lee (Catalina Foothills HS) won their No. 1 doubles match over Cameron Meinhart and Tyler Baron 8-3.
Freshmen Anton Nazaroff (Catalina Foothills HS) and Mitchell Wilkinson (Catalina Foothills HS) defeated Roman Earhart and Dylan Mulatay 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles competition, Pabst beat Meinhart 6-2, 6-1 in their No. 1 singles match. Nazaroff shut out Baron at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0 while Lee downed Earhart 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Wilkinson defeated Mulatay in their No. 4 singles contest 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Landon Strickland won his No. 5 singles match over Drake Young 6-1, 6-0.

Nazaroff and Wilkinson earned a win in their No. 2 doubles match beating Brian Castanon and Kyle Cans 8-5. The No. 3 doubles duo of Strickland and freshman Emanuel Robles-Serrano (Desert View HS) blanked Steven Muto and Anthony Kylik 8-0.
The Aztecs picked up wins in all four singles matches. Nazaroff beat Castanon at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-4. Lee won his No. 3 singles match over Cans 6-4, 6-1.
Strickland and Robles-Serrano earned shutout victories in their singles matches. Strickland downed Muto 6-0, 6-0 and Robles-Serrano overwhelmed Kylik 6-0, 6-0.
The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Region Tournament on April 13-14 at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale. Competition begins at 8:00 a.m. on both days.
