Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College softball players Lesly Cazares (Desert View HS) and Anisah Triste earned praise from the ACCAC for their play during the week of Feb. 24-Mar. 1.
Cazares, a freshman infielder, was named ACCAC Division I Player of the Week while Triste, a freshman pitcher, was selected ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week.
The Aztecs went 5-1 as they split with No. 5 ranked Arizona Western College and swept Paradise Valley Community College and GateWay Community College.
Cazares went 12 for 16 (.750) at the plate with 13 RBIs, 10 runs scored, six doubles and four walks.
Triste threw a shutout against the Matadors with 13 strikeouts. She pitched 27.1 innings compiling a 4-1 record with 44 strikeouts and seven walks. She gave up 10 earned runs in six appearances.
The Aztecs are playing today at Scottsdale Community College in an ACCAC doubleheader and will be back at the West Campus Softball Field on Thursday to face off with Central Arizona College. First pitch is at noon.
