(Thatcher, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (9-8, 9-8 in ACCAC) split an ACCAC doubleheader on the road at Eastern Arizona College (15-12, 13-5) on Saturday in Thatcher, AZ.
Sophomore Amaya Turner-Vizcarra (Tucson HS) finished the day 4 for 7 at the plate with an RBI, a run scored and two doubles. Freshman Anisah Triste had another strong outing on the mound in the first game.
Game 1: Pima Aztecs 3, Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters 2
Triste struck out the side in the 7th inning to preserve the victory for the Aztecs. She picked up the win (6-4) as she pitched a complete-game giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks.
The Aztecs scored in the first two innings. Turner-Vizcarra hit a leadoff double and later scored on an error in the 1st inning.
In the 2nd inning, Turner-Vizcarra hit an RBI single with two outs to score freshman Isabella Escobar. Freshman Mariah Bartlett was hit by a pitch and later scored on a passed ball to put the Aztecs up 3-0.
The Gila Monsters scored one in the 2nd inning and one in the 6th.
Turner-Vizcarra went 2 for 4 with an RBI, a run scored and a double. Sophomore Giselle Munoz (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished 2 for 3 while Escobar was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Game 2: Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters 6, Pima Aztecs 0
The Aztecs managed six hits for the game and left six runners on base.
Turner-Vizcarra was 2 for 3 with a double while freshman Lesly Cazares (Desert View HS) finished 2 for 2 with a walk. Triste was 1 for 2 with a walk and Bartlett finished 1 for 3.
Freshman Jazmin Ayala (Sunnyside HS) took the loss (3-3) as she pitched six innings giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

The Aztecs will be back on the road on Tuesday when they play an ACCAC doubleheader at Glendale Community College. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
