(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team produced an NJCAA Division I All-American for the seventh straight season on Friday as the teams were released.
Sophomore midfielder Ricky Gordillo (Maya HS) became Pima’s 22nd NJCAA Men’s Soccer All-American as he was selected to the second team.
Gordillo missed the first six games of the season but made his presence felt as he played and started in the final 15 games. He tied for 6th-most in the nation with 15 assists to go along with four goals.
The Aztecs men’s soccer program has produced 12 All-Americans in the last 13 years. Some of their previous NJCAA All-Americans include: Hugo Kametani (National Player of the Year) (2018), Kaskile Zawadi (2018), AJ Valenzuela (2017), Hector Banegas (2016), Jason Romero (2015), Arturo Vega (2014), Alexis Medina (2013), Eric Glad (2011), Minh Vu (2010, 2009) and Fernando Gauna (2007).
Gordillo was second in the nation with 19 assists last season in 28 games in their National Championship run. The Aztecs had a combined record of 41-6-2 over the last two seasons and a 20-1-2 record at Kino North Stadium/Grandstand.
