(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected 35 outstanding players for its 2019-20 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, and Aari McDonald was included in the list of 35.
Members of the association’s board of directors chose the players to be included on the list as contenders for the National Player of the Year.
Through the first eight games of the season, McDonald averages 21 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game while shooting 57% from the field. The highlight of the season came on Nov. 17 when she scored a school-record 44 points on the road at then-ranked No. 22 Texas. 44 points is the second-most points scored in one game all season and is also the most by a Power 5 conference player.

The 2019-20 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award winner will be presented at the 2020 NCAA Women’s Final Four in New Orleans, along with the Tamika Catchings Award honoring the women’s freshman player of the year. The winner will also be honored at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Mon., April 13, 2020.
Arizona is off to their best start in 20 years as they have won their first eight games of the season and will look to get their ninth win to start the season on Saturday, Dec. 7 on the road at UTEP. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. MST.
