/18 Swim and Dive sweeps #17/23 Arizona in regular season finale

(Tucson, AZ)   No. 2/18 Sun Devil Swim and Dive concluded its regular season with a pair of rivalry wins over No. 17/23 Arizona Friday afternoon at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.

The women’s team defeated Arizona for the fourth-straight season, while the men’s team won its ninth-straight dual against Arizona. For a complete list of the final results, click here.

The men’s team concluded the regular season with an undefeated dual record, going 9-0 and tying the 2024 dual record of 9-0-1.

Women’s 1M: Kayden Hayes (4th) – 243.98, Amayah Wiley (5th) – 230.48, Libby Thai (6th) – 220.73

Freshman Albane Cachot set a school record in the 100 free, hitting the wall in 47.82, and won the 200 free in 1:44.34, which is the seventh-fastest time in school history. In the 1000 free, junior Alexa Reyna was first in 9:44.61 and senior Deniz Ertan followed with a 9:48.94, beating the Wildcats’ third-place finisher by nearly 20 seconds.

Junior Ilya Kharun won both of his butterfly events, winning the 100 fly in 44.24 and the 200 fly in 1:38.58. Additionally, graduate Remi Fabiani swept both of his freestyle events, placing first in the 100 free in 41:57 and the 200 free in 1:32.27.

Senior Andy Dobrzanski won both of his breaststroke events, winning the 100 free (51.47) and the 200 free (1:54.79). The ASU-A relay won the 200 medley relay in a swift 1:20.81 and the 200 free relay in 1:14.68.

Sophomore Julia Ullmann swept both of her butterfly events, winning the 100 fly (52.10) and the 200 fly (1:56.31). In the 200 IM, sophomore Jordan Greber won her race with a season-best time of 1:59.31. Shortly after, sophomore Michael Hochwalt won the 200 IM in 1:47.43.

On the men’s side, senior Reece Grady won the 1000 free in 9:00.84 with freshman Noah Mudadu placing second in 9:03.49. Sophomore Tolu Young was the only swimmer to swim a sub-19 second time in the 50 free, touching the wall in first in 18.91.

The Sun Devils aim to defend their conference championships at the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships, starting Feb. 24 – 28 at Greensboro Aquatic Center.
