(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (9-4-1, 6-1-1 in ACCAC) played an intense match on Thursday against Scottsdale Community College (5-6-2, 3-4-1) on Thursday at Kino North Stadium.
The Aztecs played from behind for much of the game but a late goal forced overtime and neither teams gave up an inch as it ended in a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes of play.
Sophomore Alexis Tapia (Sahuaro HS) scored the game-tying goal with 5:28 left in regulation as she found the back of the net on a free kick just outside the box.
Sophomore Jorie Paul (Cienega HS) made crucial saves in the 87th and 97th minutes to keep the game alive. She finished with five saves.
The Artichokes got on the board with a goal by Taylor Woodward in the 24th minute.
The Aztecs will play their final regular season road match on Saturday against Cochise College in Douglas. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
