TUCSON, ARIZONA – The Tucson Sugar Skulls will conduct an open tryout on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Pueblo High School, 3500 S. 12th Ave. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 8:55 a.m.
The tryout presents prospective players with an excellent opportunity to take the next step in their professional football careers.
Two players from last season’s tryout – offensive lineman Alex Rios and wide receiver Malique Belfort – both earned roster spots from open tryouts.
The tryout will be on Pueblo’s varsity football
field and will begin promptly at 9 a.m. All players
intending to try out must register and sign a waiver to take part.
The cost to participate is $80. Cash and money orders will be the only forms of payment accepted. No debit cards, credit cards or personal checks will be accepted. The general public is invited to attend. Sugar Skulls gear will be sold at the event.
Participants must provide their own cleats, shorts and accessories. The tryout is non-contact, therefore pads and helmets are not necessary.
Participants must be prepared upon their arrival – no locker room facilities will be available, although restrooms will be accessible.
The coaching staff, including Head Coach Dixie Coleman, will evaluate participants in the 40-yard dash, short shuttles and position drills.
Links to film and player resumes can be sent anytime to [email protected].
The Sugar Skulls will play seven regular-season home games at the Tucson Arena beginning in March with the regular season running through June. The IFL playoffs will begin in early July. The 2020 IFL schedule is expected to be released later this month.
