Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College volleyball team (10-11) dropped its final non-conference match of the season on Friday against Grand Canyon University Club 25-22, 25-23, 25-18.
In a tight first set that saw nine lead changes, the Aztecs surrendered the final three points of the set to fall behind in the match.
The Aztecs trailed by a slim margin in the second set but came back to tie it up at 22-22. They lost the final three of four set points and fell behind 2-0 in the match.• They tied the third set at 14-14 but Grand Canyon took the lead back for good. Down 20-17, the Aztecs lost five of the final six points.
Sophomore Madi Nash (Sahuaro HS) finished the match with nine kills and 11 digs while fellow sophomore Jade Romine (Canyon del Oro HS) had seven kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Kaleigh Hockett (Desert Mountain HS) contributed with 26 assists.
Sophomore Kendall Deeter (Mountain View HS) posted six kills and four blocks while freshman Savanna White (Payson HS) finished with five kills and four blocks.
The Aztecs have two more regular season home matches remaining on the schedule. They will play Glendale Community College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
