(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational on Friday in Walnut, CA.
The Aztecs men’s team finished in third place with a total of 123 points. Sophomore Aaron Espinoza (Sunnyside HS) was the top Pima finisher as completed the four-mile race with a time of 22 minutes, 15.5 seconds earning 13th place out of 103 runners.
Sophomore Juan Miranda finished the race in 24th place with a time of 23:04.2 while freshman Alex Corrales (Nogales HS) was behind him in 25th at 23:11.9. Freshman Brandon Moreno (Rio Rico HS) was 54th at 25:07.2 and freshman Zach Zobak took 55that 25:08.8.
In the women’s three-mile race, sophomore Iriana Sanchez (Cienega HS) was the top Pima runner as she took 15th place out of 61 runners with a time of 21:07.3.
Sophomore Rainbow Hoss (Mountain View HS) finished in 18th place with a time of 21:16.8 and freshman Janae Quihuis (Nogales HS) was 30th at 22:35.8.
The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Region I Championships on Friday at Silverlake Park (2420 South Kino Parkway). The men’s race begins at 9:00 a.m. and the women’s race will follow at 9:45 a.m.
