The Arizona State Sun Devils garnered two awards this week after their 30-7 win over Kent State University in Tempe last Friday.
Jaylen Daniels was named Freshman of the Week. Daniels went 15 of 24 passes for 284 yards, highlighted by a 77-yard catch and run from wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He also rushed for 13 yards scrambling to avoid pressure.
Michael Turk was nothing short of amazing in his first game as a Sun Devil after transferring from Louisiana-Lafayette. He sat out last season.
Turk was named to the Ray Guy preseason watch list. His two uncles played in the NFL. Matt Turk played nineteen seasons as a punter and worked with Michael in the offseason. His other uncle, Daniel Turk was an offensive lineman for fifteen years.
Turk boomed punts 64, 62, 65, 49 and 75 yards. This set a school record 63 yard average. Former Sun Devil quarterback/punter held the previous record.
ASU gets back into action Friday September 6th against Sacramento State University. Game time is 7 pm at Sun Devil Stadium.
