(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College cross country and track & field distance runner Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) signed her national letter of intent on Thursday.
Bruno, a sophomore, will continue her education and collegiate career at St. John’s University, a private Catholic institution in New York City. She has put together quite a career in her two years at Pima and stands in line to earn more medals at the NJCAA Region I Championships and NJCAA Division I National Championships.
Bruno has set national qualifiers in the 800, 1,500, 5,000 meter races as well as the 3,000 meter steeplechase during this outdoor season.
She placed ninth in the 1,500 meters race and 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships in 2018.
Bruno claimed region titles in the 1,500 meter and 3,000 meter steeplechase at the NJCAA Region I Championships in 2018.
She is a two-time ACCAC conference champion in the 1,500 and 5,000-meter races.
Bruno also put together a solid career in her two years with the women’s cross country team. Here’s a list of her accolades:

Placed ninth out of 294 competitors at the NJCAA Division I National Championships in 2018.
The NJCAA Region I Championships will be on Tuesday, Apr. 30 and Thursday, May 2 at Mesa Community College. Events will begin at 5:00 p.m. on both days. The NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships are May 16-18 in Hobbs, NM.
