(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (25-11) hosted Langley Blaze Prep on Thursday at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field in a non-conference doubleheader.
Freshman Cole Cummings was a standout for the Aztecs at the plate as he went 5 for 7 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Freshmen pitchers Emilio Lovato and Christian Sanford picked up the wins on the mound.
Game 1: Pima CC Aztecs 14, Langley Blaze Prep 4 (5 innings): The Aztecs broke the game wide open with a 10-run 4th inning. Freshman Karl Koerper sealed the win with a walk-off.
The Aztecs took a 3-0 lead after the 2nd inning. Sophomore Garett Lake hit an RBI triple to score freshman Brian Romero (Canyon del Oro HS) and sophomore Carlos Mada(Nogales HS) drove in Lake with an RBI single. Sophomore Jacob Jacome stole home plate to cap off the inning.
In the 4th inning, Cummings drove in sophomore Matthew Hackman (Empire HS) and Jacome to give Pima 7-1 lead. Later in the inning, Lake hit his second triple of day scoring Koerper and Romero.
Up 13-4 in the 5th inning, Koerper went yard with a walk-off solo home run to end the game.
Cummings went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored while Lake finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Jacome was 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs and Mada finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Koerper went 1 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Lovato picked up the win (2-0) as he pitched five innings giving up four runs (none earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk on 66 pitches.

Game 2: Pima CC Aztecs 5, Langley Blaze Prep 3: The Aztecs held off a rally from Langley Blaze for the win.
Pima scored two in the 1st inning and one run in the 2nd to take the lead. Cummings and sophomore Rafael Padilla (Nogales HS) hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the 1st inning. Lake raced around second and scored on an error in the 2nd inning to make it 3-0.
The Aztecs padded their lead with two runs in the 5th inning. Freshman JJ Rollon(Skyline HS) hit an RBI double and Cummings brought Rollon in with a groundout RBI to make it 5-0.
Langley Prep scored three runs in the top half of the 6th inning. They left one runner on base in the 6th and one in the 7th inning.
Cummings finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Rollon went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Padilla was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Freshman Christian Sanford picked up his first win of the season (1-0) as he pitched five innings of shutout-ball giving up two hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Freshman Mikael Bracamonte picked up his first save of the season as he pitched the final two innings giving up three runs (none earned) on four hits.

The Aztecs get back to ACCAC conference play on Saturday when they play a doubleheader at Scottsdale Community College. First pitch is at noon.
