(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams opened the outdoor season on Friday and Saturday at the Willie Williams Invitational held at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
Freshman Jaylen Coleman took first place in the men’s triple jump finishing with a new personal record of 48-feet, 11-inches earning a national qualifying mark. Fellow freshman Royal Miller IV (Ironwood Ridge HS) also set a personal-best in the triple jump with a mark of 44-10.75.
In other men’s events, sophomore Robert Williams (South Mountain HS) took seventh in the 400 meter race with a time of 49.33 seconds. Freshman Christian Edgerson placed seventh in the long jump at 22-feet, 11.75-inches.
In women’s competition, sophomore Hailey Myles (Boulder Creek HS) produced a strong start in the triple jump as she took second place with a mark of 38-feet, 6-inches giving her an outdoor national qualifier.
The 4×100 relay team of sophomore Kymori Henderson (South Mountain HS), freshmen Raelynn Fair (South Mountain HS) and Berkeley Larsen (Ironwood Ridge HS) along with sophomore Annabella Spencer (Sahuaro HS) took fourth place with a time of 49.22.
The Aztecs will compete at the Puma Outdoor Distance and Multi-Meet on Thursday in Phoenix. Events begin at 3:00 p.m.
