(Tucson, AZ) FROM THE TIP
For the first time in school history, Arizona will host their third postseason game of the season vs. Idaho on Thursday. It is also the first time since 1998 that the Wildcats have won multiple postseason games in one season.
UA beat Idaho State in the First Round and knocked off Pacific in the Second Round this past Sunday.
Arizona is the only team representing the Pac-12 in the WNIT.
The Wildcats, led by sophomore Adia Barnes, won the 1996 WNIT.
Aari McDonald owns the Arizona single-season scoring record and is currently fourth on the Pac-12 single-season scoring list. She joins Maya Moore as the only two players since 2000 to have 800 points, 200 rebounds and 150 assists in one season.
Cate Reese became the first Arizona freshman to score 20 points in a postseason game and is also the first freshman since Shawntinice Polk to have a double-double in her first career postseason game. She followed that up with 16 against Pacific in the Second Round and is shooting 65% from the field in the first two rounds.
Arizona has won 20 games for the first time since the 2010-11 season when the Cats won 21 games.
Thursday will be the first time Arizona has played a game later than March 24 in the calendar year.
