(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (3-5, 0-3 in ACCAC) almost completed a comeback on the road but dropped their third straight conference game.
The No. 14 ranked Aztecs lost at Arizona Western College 73-72 on Sunday in Yuma.
The Aztecs and the Matadors (2-6, 1-2) traded the lead nine times. There was also seven ties in the game. Pima trailed by as much as 14 points at 55-41.
Sophomore Shauna Bribiescas (Dobson HS) led the Aztecs with 19 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) had 13 points and seven assists.
Freshman Hallie Lawson (Campo Verde HS) shot 3 for 4 from the field and was 6 for 6 from the free throw line as she finished with 12 points off the bench. Fellow freshman Bryanne Olson (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) also had 12 points to go along with five rebounds.
The Aztecs will play their fourth straight game against an ACCAC Division I team on Wednesday when they visit Central Arizona College in Coolidge. Tipoff will be at 5:30 p.m.
