(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (3-1) got back on the winning track in the second day of the Eastern Arizona Classic on Friday.
The No. 14 ranked Aztecs defeated Lower Columbia College 85-72. The Aztecs broke away in the second quarter when they outscored the Red Devils 25-8.
Sophomore Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) came close to a triple-double as she finished with a game-high 24 points to go along with eight rebounds and eight assists.
Sophomore Shauna Bribiescas (Dobson HS) shot 7 for 11 from the floor as she posted 18 points and six rebounds. Fellow sophomore RyLeigh Long had nine points while sophomore Brianna Pitre (Sabino HS) and Marlena Arroyo-Plata (Campo Verde HS) each had eight points.
The Aztecs had an 18-3 run during the game and led by as much as 27 points at 73-46. The Pima defense also forced 26 turnovers.
The Aztecs close out play at the Eastern Arizona Classic on Saturday when they face off with No. 7 ranked Illinois Central College at 1:00 p.m.
