Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s basketball team opened the 2018-19 season on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
The No. 14 ranked Aztecs defeated Grand Canyon University Club 91-62.
Up 60-47, the Aztecs opened the fourth quarter on a 15-2 run to take a 75-49 advantage.
Sophomore Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) scored a team-high 20 points on 7 for 16 shooting with eight assists and three steals. Fellow sophomore Shauna Bribiescas(Dobson HS) had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. She shot 8 for 9 from the floor.
Freshman Alyssa Perez (Marana HS) contributed with six points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals while freshman Hallie Lawson (Campo Verde HS) had five points and nine boards.
The Aztecs will host a non-conference match next Saturday against Arizona Christian University JV at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
