Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s and women’s cross country teams opened the 2018 season competing at the George Kyte Invitational on Saturday in Flagstaff.
In the women’s 2.6-mile race, sophomore Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) took second place in the open race and was the first junior college runner to cross the finish line with a time of 16 minutes, 38.5 seconds. The Aztecs took third place in the open standings with 67 points.
Freshman Luis Tarazon (Desert View HS) took eighth place in the men’s 4.5-mile open race with a time of 25:42.3. The Aztecs took second place with 63 points beating out Mesa Community College (75), Estrella Mountain Community College (109) and Glendale Community College (112).
The Aztecs will compete at the Randolph Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 14 at the Dave Murray Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona. The women’s race will be at 5:00 p.m. and the men’s race will follow at 5:45 p.m.
