The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (3-2-1) come back on two occasions against Scottsdale Community College (1-2-1) but the game finished in a stalemate.
The Aztecs and the Artichokes played 110 minutes but it wasn’t enough to settle it as the game finished in a 2-2 tie.
Down 1-0, the Aztecs got on the board when sophomore Kylee Martin (Sahuaro HS) scored on a free kick in the 15th minute.
The Artichokes took the lead again with a goal in the 20th minute but the Aztecs responded with 8:12 left in the half when freshman Brianna Lewis (Tucson HS) scored on a volley from sophomore Paola Ruedaflores’ (Nogales HS) corner kick.
The Aztecs were outshot 12-6. Sophomore Mackenzie Bernal (Tanque Verde HS) had six saves in the first half and freshman Haven Chambers (Walden Grove HS) had four saves in the second half and the two overtimes.
The Aztecs will close out a busy week on Saturday when they play an afternoon game at South Mountain Community College. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m.
