Lopez takes third and earns All-American status in the high jump after second day at NJCAA National Championships

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams closed out the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Friday in El Dorado, KS.

Freshman Anahiramar Lopez (Tucson HS) took third place in the high jump and earned NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention status. She finished with a jump of 5-feet, 6-inches (1.68 meters) and gave the Aztecs six team points.

 

Sophomore Megan Schiffmacher (Cactus HS) placed seventh with a jump of 5-feet, 2.25-inches (1.58 meters) earning two points for the Aztecs.

Freshman Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) set a new personal-record in the 1,500 meter preliminary race with a time of 4 minutes, 51.06 seconds. She placed 10th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:53.62.

 

In men’s competition, freshman Cameron Crandall (Canyon del Oro HS) took seventh place in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet, 8-inches (2.03 meters). He earned two team points.

Freshman Duan Grant raced in the 100 meter dash preliminary race and finished with a season-best time of 10.84 seconds.

The final day of the NJCAA Division I National Championships will be on Saturday at the BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
