Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field team competed in the ACCAC Conference Championships on Saturday at Paradise Valley Community College.
The Aztecs women’s team went 3-1 in team points as they beat Glendale Community College (107.00-33.00), Mesa Community College (99.00-73.00) and Paradise Valley Community College (96.00-49.00). They lost to Central Arizona College (115.00-59.00).
The Aztecs men’s team finished 2-2 as they topped Glendale (114.00-71.00) and Paradise Valley (111.00-62.00) but lost to Central Arizona (104.00-89.00) and Mesa (112.00-85.00).
The Aztecs claimed six conference individual titles as freshman distance runner Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) took home two. She placed first in the 1,500 meter with a time of 5 minutes, 01.43 seconds and earned the top spot in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:06.48.
Freshman sprinter Kaylen Fox (Sahuaro HS) took first place in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:24.98.
In men’s competition, freshman sprinter Dariun Glover (Skyline HS) claimed the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.41 seconds earning himself a national qualifying mark.
Sophomore distance runner Collin Dylla was first in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:57.07.
Sophomore jumper Seth Jarus (Wickenburg HS) took first place in the long jump with a mark of 22-feet, 11.75-inches (6.99 meters).
The Aztecs have 13 national qualifying times and marks.
The Aztecs will host the Aztec Classic Invitational on Friday at the West Campus Track. Events begin at 10:00 a.m.
