Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams opened the outdoor season on Friday and Saturday at the Willie Williams Invitational at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
Sophomore Collin Dylla (Ironwood Ridge HS), who was the NJCAA Indoor National Champion in the 1,000 meter race, set a personal record and national qualifying time in the 800 meter race. He finished in third place with a time of 1 minute, 52.90 seconds.
The 4×100 relay team of freshmen Isaiah Martin (Empire HS), Robert Williams (South Mountain HS), Dariun Glover (Skyline HS) and Duan Grant earned a national qualifying time at 41.85.
In women’s competition, sophomore Alyssa Watkins (Cienega HS) set a national qualifying mark in the hammer throw as she finished with a mark of 148-feet, 2-inches (45.17 meters).
The Aztecs have 11 student-athletes who have set national qualifying times and marks.
The Aztecs will compete in the Puma Multi-Event and Outdoor Meet next Friday and Saturday in Phoenix hosted by Paradise Valley Community College. Events begin on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
