Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s golf team played in its third tournament of the season on Monday and Tuesday at the Estrella Mountain Invitational.
The Aztecs took fourth place in the team standings for the third straight tournament with a two-day total of 726 (362-364) at the Tres Rios Golf Course in Goodyear, AZ. They were 16-strokes behind South Mountain Community College (710) for third place. Mesa Community College took first with 665 and Chandler-Gilbert Community College placed second with 709.
Sophomore Araceli Esquivel (Salpointe Catholic HS) had her season-best finish as she took second place in the individual standings. She shot a 3-over par 74 for her second round and improved by 10-strokes in the second round. She finished with a 158 (84-74). She had two fourth-place finishes coming into the tournament.
Freshman Clara Solano (Tucson HS) took 12th place with a two-day score of 178 (87-91) while freshman Julianne Gonzalez (Ironwood Ridge HS) shot a 190 (93-97). She finished 15th in the standings. Freshman Elizabeth Satterfield (Ironwood Ridge HS) shot a 200 (98-102).
The Aztecs will host the Pima Invitational at The Views Golf Club in Oro Valley on Mar. 19-20. Teams will begin to tee off at 12:00 p.m. on both days.
