TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona defeated UC Davis 6-1 in Saturday’s first game at the Kajikawa Classic.
Game 1: #7 Arizona 6, UC Davis 1
The Wildcats hit three home runs, helping UA overcome 13 runners left on base, while Alyssa Denham tossed her first complete game in a Wildcat uniform, allowing one run on eight hits and Arizona defeated UC Davis 6-1 at the Tempe Sports Complex.
Reyna Carranco, Dejah Mulipola and Aleah Craighton hit home runs for UA in the game.
The Cats jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, plating a run in the first and three in the second, but UA’s offense went quiet until Mulipola and Craighton hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth.
UA’s 13 runners left on base were its most since stranding 15 vs. Drake (2/15/17).
Dejah Mulipola gave the Cats the early lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the first, but it would be all for Arizona, which left the bases loaded in the inning.
In the second, a walk and an error put two on for Reyna Carranco, who hit a three-run home run, matching her home run total from a season ago.
After UC Davis scratched across a run in the fifth, Mulipola and Craighton’s back-to-back blasts gave UA the final five-run cushion.
