Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College baseball team (10-6, 2-4 in ACCAC) dropped two ACCAC conference games on Saturday at No. 15 ranked Mesa Community College (12-2, 3-2).
Freshman Enrique Porchas (Kofa HS) was a bright spot for the offense as he went 3 for 9 with four RBIs. Sophomore Marcus Mendez (Desert View HS) was 4 for 7 on the day.
Game 1: (15) Mesa CC Thunderbirds 7, Pima CC Aztecs 3 (7 innings): The Aztecs fell into a 7-0 deficit and scored three runs in the 7th inning but the rally got cut short.
Freshman Matthew Hackman (Empire HS) drew a bases loaded walk and Porchas hit a two-run RBI double to score sophomore Martin Garcia (Tucson HS) and freshman Javier Nava in the 7th inning.
Porchas finished 1 for 4 with two RBIs while Nava was 1 for 2 with a run scored. Mendez finished 2 for 3.
Sophomore Jose Contreras (Tucson HS) took the loss (2-2) as he pitched three innings giving up four runs (four earned) on five hits with three walks.

Game 2: (15) Mesa CC Thunderbirds 8, Pima CC Aztecs 5: The Aztecs took the lead with five runs in the 6th inning but the Thunderbirds responded with a five-run inning in the 7th to take the lead for good.
Freshman Juan Durazo (Salpointe Catholic HS) put the Aztecs on the board with a three-run RBI double. Porchas capped off the inning with a two-run RBI double to bring in Durazo and sophomore Jesus Solis (Nogales HS) to make it 5-2.
Porchas finished the game 2 for 5 with two RBIs and two doubles. Durazo was 1 for 5 with three RBIs. Freshman Rafael Padilla (Nogales HS) went 3 for 5 with a run scored and Mendez was 2 for 4 with a run scored.
Sophomore Isaac Lopez (Nogales HS) took the loss (0-1) in a relief appearance. Freshman Michael Wong pitched six innings giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits with two walks.

The Aztecs will be back on the road on Tuesday when they play at Phoenix College in an ACCAC conference doubleheader. First pitch will be at noon.
